Thinking About Houston Mini Sessions? Read This First.

You Googled “Houston mini sessions” and landed here. Honestly? Good, stay a minute.

You want updated family photos and you’re not totally sure your husband can handle a full session without becoming a different, worse person. Your toddler is unpredictable on the best of days and a full blown threat to society on the worst. And spending real money on something that might completely fall apart? It feels like a risk you’re not sure you want to take.

So a mini session feels like the safe bet. Cheaper. Faster. Less to lose. Right? Maybe not.

Here’s the thing, and we say this with so much love: we’re about to change your mind.

Meet Lentille Photography, a boutique portrait studio in Houston Heights ran by two moms. We’ve got five kids between us, ages 3-16, and we’ve been photographing Houston families for 14 years. We don’t offer mini sessions (except our annual Santa event. We love Santa). Not because we can’t, but because after 14 years of doing this, we genuinely don’t think you need one. And by the time you finish reading this, we think you’ll feel the same way.

Be Honest. Why Do You Actually Want a Mini Session?

It’s not because you woke up and thought “you know what, five photos sounds great.” It’s usually one of these:

  • Your husband treats family photos like a dental appointment he can’t get out of
  • Your kids are a wildcard and you don’t want to gamble on a long session
  • You want to keep the cost down
  • You’ve already done three minis this year and you’re still chasing that one gallery you actually love
  • You just want it to be quick and painless and over

Every single one of those fears is valid, and every single one of them is exactly what we’ve spent 14 years building an experience around. So, keep on reading…

Family looking for a Houston Mini Session opted for a full family session instead. Laughing, playing, and being photographed outdoors, at sunset, at a field in Houston Heights.

The Math Nobody Talks About

A Houston mini session typically runs $150 to $400. You get 10 to 20 minutes and somewhere between 5 and 15 images. Sounds reasonable on paper, right?

Here’s what actually happens though: you spend the first five minutes getting everyone situated. The next five you’re bribing your toddler with whatever is in the bottom of your purse. By the time things actually start to click, your time is up. You walk away with three photos you really love, four that are fine, and that feeling like it could have been so much better.

So you find yourself Googling “Houston Mini Session” in the spring. Another in the fall. Maybe one more around the holidays because you still haven’t gotten that gallery you actually want to frame and put on the wall.

Four Houston mini sessions at $300 each is $1,200. For photos you kind of love, four separate days of wrangling everyone into clean clothes, and four days of showing up and hoping for the best.

No judgment, but the math doesn’t lie and your time is valuable.

What a Full Session at Lentille Photography Actually Looks Like

This is where we need to gently blow up everything you think you know about a full session.

Our outdoor family sessions are about 45 minutes. That’s it.

Not three hours. Not a marathon of forced smiles where everyone hates each other by the end. Forty-five minutes of playing and laughing and being exactly who you are as a family while our team works in the background doing what we’ve spent 14 years getting really, really good at. By the time anyone even thinks about being tired, we already have everything we need.

And here’s what’s waiting for you when you get here:

The wardrobe situation is handled. Over 225 dresses for moms, coordinating pieces for kids, shirts for dads. Size inclusive, curated, and ready for you. No shopping, no coordinating, no returning something at 11pm the night before because it didn’t look right. You show up and we help you choose what photographs beautifully together, makes you feel like a million bucks, and we style you. Done. You look and feel great and you didn’t drop $500 on clothes you’ll wear once.

Hair and makeup is available. Our favorite hair and makeup artist, Aleya, is genuinely one of the best in Houston. She will make you feel like yourself again, maybe better than yourself, before you ever step in front of a camera. You deserve that. Bonus points because she only takes an hour, specializes in soft, effortless looks, and really gets a feel for the look you are going for. Whether you never wear makeup and want something to reflect that, or you are wanting to go a little soft glam, she can create something beautiful for you.

Our team runs the whole show. No stiff posing. No “okay everyone look over here and smile.” Just real, genuine moments with a team that knows exactly when to press the shutter and exactly how to get your kid to actually look at the camera without losing their mind. Hint: we have snacks and zero shame. You never have to wonder where to stand, what to do, where to put your hands, or where to look. We’re always one step ahead of you, so even the most awkward humans will relax and enjoy themselves in front of our camera.

You get a real gallery. Not five images. A full gallery of photos (usually 40-60) that make you put your hand over your mouth when they show up in your inbox. And cry (the only time we love making people cry). The kind you actually print. The kind that end up on your wall. The kind that make you excited to do it again next year.

About That Husband Who Would Rather Do Literally Anything Else

We have to talk about this because it comes up in almost every single inquiry we get.

The families who walk in convinced that their husband is going to be impossible, or their kids are going to absolutely lose it, or that the whole thing is going to be a disaster. Those are almost always the families who leave saying it was so much easier and more fun than they expected.

A recent text we received, after their session: “Thank you so much for today! Sean gets so annoyed when I book photos and he was talking about how wonderful you were and the space and that he wouldn’t complain about photos if it was like that. Huge compliments! LOL” -L.Hearn

Every time. Without fail. We’re different around here and it shows.

Because we have been doing this for 14 years and we have genuinely seen it all. The husbands who came in with their arms crossed and ended up laughing harder than anyone in the room. The toddlers who were described to us as “feral” and were absolute angels for 45 minutes straight. The moms who walked in nervous and left saying they couldn’t believe those were actually photos of their own family, happy tears in their eyes.

We’re built for real families. Not the ones who showed up perfectly coordinated and ready to cooperate. Yours.

Okay But Real Talk & The Question You Should Actually Be Asking Yourself

Would you rather spend $300 on a rushed 15 minute session where everyone felt a little off, you got a handful of images that are fine, and you’re already thinking about doing another one next season to try to get it right?

Or would you rather invest in one experience where your kids actually had fun, your partner might even admit he didn’t hate it (high praise, we know), you walked away with a full gallery that made you cry in the best way, and you’re already looking forward to doing it again?

We already know your answer. We’ve watched 14 years of families arrive skeptical and leave converted.

Here’s the Deal

If you searched for Houston mini sessions because you wanted something easy and low pressure, we need you to hear this: that is exactly what a full session at Lentille Photography is.

Easy, ow pressure, and completely handled by us.

You just show up. No doing your hair with a toddler on your hip. No remembering all the clothes, No packing snacks and drinks. You literally come as you are and we have everything waiting. Think beer in the fridge, energy drinks, coffee, snacks. A changing table with wipes, a toy center to occupy kids while you try on dresses. WIFI for dads and Netflix for tweens. The only thing you need to bring is the confidence in us to create a beautiful time together.

Wardrobe, styling, hair and makeup, direction, editing, the gallery? All of it is on us. You show up, you have a genuinely good time with your family, and then a few weeks later you get to sit on your couch and scroll through a gallery of photos that actually look like the family you love on their best, most real, most beautiful day.

That’s not a mini session, that’s the whole experience. And once you have it, you’ll wonder why you ever considered anything else.
