What to Expect During a Newborn Photo Session in Houston
If you’re expecting a baby (or just welcomed one into the world), chances are you’ve spent some time researching what to expect during a newborn photo session in Houston. And if you’ve made your way here, welcome—you’re in the right place.
At Lentille Photography, we specialize in laid back newborn sessions that feel calm, connected, and completely taken care of. No awkward posing, no stressful timelines, no rushing around with a diaper bag the size of Texas. Just a relaxed, baby-led session focused on connection, simplicity, and creating images you’ll love for the rest of your life.
Let’s walk through what you can expect from a newborn photo session with us at our studio in The Heights—or even in the comfort of your own home.

Where Your Session Happens: Studio or In-Home
The majority of our newborn sessions happen at our natural light studio in The Heights (236 W 25th St, Houston, TX 77008). It’s a calm, cozy space where we’ve thought of every detail: wardrobe for the whole family, a full collection of wraps, blankets, delicate headbands and bows, and even a Restoration Hardware cradle. There’s a bed, stools, soft textures, and big windows that flood the space with light.
We also offer in-home sessions, though there’s a little more to consider. To maintain the look and feel of the work you see on our website, your home must have plenty of natural light and lighter decor. If either of those are missing, we’ll guide you toward a studio session instead, so you get that signature Lentille aesthetic.
Hair, Makeup, and Wardrobe: All Taken Care Of
We’re known for full-service Houston newborn photography, which means we take care of everything. Before your session, we’ll send over a prep email, a wardrobe guide, and a questionnaire that helps us plan your session around your family’s style and personalities.
Wardrobe is one of the biggest stressors for parents, so we remove that burden completely. Our curated client closet includes over 200 dresses for moms, soft layers for dads, and sweet options for siblings (sizes 0–14). For baby, we offer wraps, textures, and accessories to keep everything looking cohesive and natural.
We’ll also connect you with our favorite hair and makeup artists, including Aleya—who’s responsible for 90% of the looks you see on our site and social media. She can meet you at the studio or your home, making the getting-ready process feel like a treat instead of a to-do.

The Flow of the Session: Baby-Led and Easy
Our newborn photo sessions in Houston usually last between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on your baby’s needs. We don’t rush. We don’t follow a strict shot list. Instead, we let your baby lead the way.
Need to stop for a feeding or diaper change? No problem. Sibling needs a snack or meltdown break? Totally fine. This is real life, and we expect those things. Our team—made up of moms who’ve been there—has seen it all. (Allison was a labor and delivery nurse, and Monette has three kiddos of her own.) We are calm, patient, and completely unphased by the chaos that often comes with new parenthood.
We always start with family photos, then parents with baby, each parent individually, siblings, and finally baby alone. We’ll gently guide you the entire time so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or how to hold your baby.

What About Posing?
We style your family, but we never over-pose. Our sessions feel natural and connected—focused on cuddles, soft touches, and real moments rather than stiff smiles. If you’re laid-back, you won’t find yourself in a formal gown. If you’re a bit more elevated, we’ll match that energy too. It’s all about helping you feel like yourself while creating elevated, heirloom-worthy images.

Ordering and Delivery: What Happens After Your Session
After your session, you’ll get to view your images during a 2-day online ordering appointment from the comfort of home. You’ll choose your favorites, select a collection or a la carte options, and we’ll hop on a quick call to walk through your order and finalize everything.
We guarantee image delivery within 3 weeks, but most clients receive their gallery closer to the 2-week mark.

Artwork and Digital Files: Do I Get Both?
Yes, if you want to! Most clients opt for one of our signature collections, which includes both artwork and digital files. Why? Because printing your photos often falls to the bottom of the to-do list, and we’re here to take that off your plate.
We’ll handle the design and ordering, and your final pieces—albums, frames, and prints—will arrive on your doorstep. It’s one less thing to think about during the newborn haze, and it ensures your images actually live outside your phone.

How Our Clients Feel After Afterward
We hear it all the time: “That was so much easier than I expected.”
Clients are often surprised by how laid-back and enjoyable the experience is—how many beautiful images they receive, even when their baby was fussy or their toddler wasn’t into it. And that’s by design. We don’t believe in forcing moments. We believe in creating space for real connection and letting everything else unfold naturally.

What Sets Us Apart as Houston Newborn Photographers
Newborn sessions shouldn’t feel like a chore. They shouldn’t feel like a “grin and bear it” experience, either. Our studio is built around the idea that you deserve better. You deserve a space where everything is handled, where you feel comfortable and seen, and where your baby is in expert hands.
We’ve had clients joke that we should come home with them, because of how easily we settle babies and handle toddlers with ease. We know how to keep things calm, get the shots, and make the whole experience feel like something to actually enjoy.
